On the other hand, platform-based approach offers flexibility and customization opportunities that are unachievable for standard industrial automation PLC and DCS produced by major vendors.

A control strategy is defined by programming the RISC processor cores and configuring other parts of the system. Control algorithms can be totally changed without the need to re-design the hardware.
